Foolproof Finds

New York, New York - City of Food

Hello readers, it's certainly been a while since I've been able to interest you in the food that I've been eating! Fear not I am back, hopefully on a more regular basis, ready to show you all the best places to eat on a budget.

Today we are taking a break from Chicago's greats. Prepare yourself for a long post of various food from a weekend trip to New York, New York. Sit back, relax, and envy all of the foods I've had the pleasure of eating.

Let's start with 4 of the smallest meals I had.

(Lazy Girl Luncheon)

From left to right. Where to even begin. It's everyone's dream to have a bagel in the big apple! This bagel is not so ordinary though. It's a salmon, tomato and *schmear*. This was my first time on the East Coast, and the seafood did not miss. How could I not get a Lox and Cream Cheese bagel while I was there?! 10/10 for this bagel, I wish I could eat it everyday (especially in central park).

Next up, is the best cannoli. Now, if you know me, you know that a cannoli is one of my favorite desserts (aside from a good tiramisu or apple pie). This cannoli was so filling. I don't think I've ever tasted anything like it. I would also have to give this a 10/10 seeing as though a real Italian bakery made this delicious piece of dessert.

Next picture you should see is that incredibly cheesy french onion soup. Not only did the guyere taste amazing, but the broth was insanely flavorful as well. Not pictured is the enormous side of loaded nachos my friends and I bought. The amount of food was intense, but tickled my palette very well. 9/10.

And last on this deck, is Ukranian style pierogies and potatoes. I am a huge sucker for pierogies but this was my first time having them in a restaurant setting. The staff were insanely nice, and the side of applesauce was splendid from all the hot fried stuff being served. I believe that I had beef and goat cheese for the fillings on my pierogies and if you haven't read my blog on goat cheese, you're definitely missing out.

This next meal was probably one of my favorites out of this whole trip. Korean corn dogs. Just typing out the name makes me crave them! I have not stopped raving about this dish. The crunch of the potatoes, the spicy cheeto dust, the gooey cheese. Everything about it was so perfect. I could really go on and on about this, but I might just go to a place in Chicago and write a whole other article. 1000/10

I did warn you that this would be a long and slightly envious post. The lobster is really the one to top them all. East Coast lobster mmmm. It really was the sprinkles on top to a great spread of food to try. The cold lobster mixed in with the crunchy celery. There is something about fresh, stinky seafood that just tastes better! Tell me I'm wrong here, argue with me in the comments about it, but be prepared to lose when you try it. Not only did I have the lobster roll, but a small cup of lobster bisque soup. It was lobster overload! - in the best way possible. The difference between hot and cold lobster, with crunchy versus creamy. Indescribable. 9.9/10. Yes, it has a slight point deduction, only because I'm bitter I can't eat it everyday.

Last but not least, the perfect Italian dinner couldn't have been found anywhere other than Joanne's. Lady Gaga's parents restaurant! This penne alla vodka was to die for. We also did finish an entire bottle of the Gaga red wine (don't worry we are all 21), fantastic with the dinner and didn't stain my teeth! We did splurge a bit and also get some spicy Italian meatballs for an appetizer and of course, tiramisu for dessert. 9/10.

All in all, New York is definitely THE place to try great food. Not pictured is the pizza, hotdogs and coffee that we also sampled along the way. Let me know if there's any foods or places you're interested in me trying and I will see you all soon.
